The instructions in A‑II, 1 ("Where and how applications may be filed") do not apply to international applications, except where explicit reference is made to international applications, including Euro-PCT applications.

The PCT requirements corresponding to those of A‑II, 2 ("Persons entitled to file an application") are more restrictive, as in general the applicant must be a resident or national of a PCT contracting state and therefore no further examination as regard

Where the international application was not published in an official language of the EPO, the applicant is required, in accordance with Art. 22 PCT or Art. 39 PCT and Rule 159(1)(a), to furnish a translation of the published application within a period of 31 months from the date of filing or, if priority has been claimed, from the earliest priority date (31-month time limit).

"Entry into the European phase" is not an act in itself but a series of acts to be performed.

In proceedings before the EPO relating to international applications, the provisions of the PCT apply, supplemented by the provisions of the EPC. In case of conflict, the provisions of the PCT prevail.
