OJ EPO 2020, A39 - Decision of the President of the European Patent Office dated 1 April 2020 concerning oral proceedings by videoconference before examining divisions

The President of the European Patent Office, having regard to Articles 10(2)(a) and 116 of the European Patent Convention (EPC), has decided as follows:

Article 1
Oral proceedings by videoconference before examining divisions

(1) Oral proceedings before examining divisions are to be held by videoconference.

Pursuant to the decision of the President dated 1 April 2020 concerning oral proceedings held by videoconference before examining divisions (OJ EPO 2020, A39), oral proceedings before examining divisions are to be held by videoconference. This notice supersedes the previous notice concerning interviews and oral proceedings to be held as a video-conference (OJ EPO 2018, A96).

1. On 1 July 2018, the European Patent Office (EPO), the Japan Patent Office (JPO), the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), the National Intellectual Property Administration of the People's Republic of China (CNIPA) and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) – referred to jointly as the IP5 offices – launched the operational phase of the third pilot project on PCT collaborative search and examination (CS&E) (hereinafter "the pilot").
