The transmittal fee is paid for the benefit of the EPO as receiving Office (RO/EP) and its amount is fixed by the EPO. It is to be paid within one month from the date of receipt of the international application. The amount payable is the amount applicable on that date of receipt. As of a date to be set by the President of the EPO, if the international application is filed online in character-coded format, no transmittal fee will have to be paid. That date will be published in advance in the EPO's Official Journal.[Rule 14; Art. 2(1) RFees; Rule 157(4) EPC; OJ EPO 2018, A4; OJ EPO 2019, A3; OJ EPO 2019, A6; ]
