The Enlarged Board of Appeal,

in accordance with Article 5, paragraph 2, of the present Rules of Procedure of the Enlarged Board of Appeal,

hereby decides the following transfer of functions to the Registry of the Enlarged Board of Appeal:

The Presidium,

in accordance with Rule 10, paragraph 1, EPC 1973,

having regard to Article 5, paragraph 2, of the present Rules of Procedure of the Boards of Appeal,

Parties with a legitimate interest may ask the boards of appeal to deal with their appeals rapidly. The boards can speed up an appeal as far as the procedural regulations allow.

Requests for accelerated processing must be submitted to the competent board either at the beginning of or during proceedings. They should contain reasons for the urgency together with relevant documents; no particular form is required.

Since 1 November 2000 the procedure set out below has been used for fixing the dates of oral proceedings before the boards of appeal. This procedure has been approved in co-operation with former DG 2 (now DG 1) and after discussion in the Standing Advisory Committee before the EPO (SACEPO).
