GL D II 5 Allocation of tasks to members

An opposition division will normally entrust one of its members with the examination of the opposition, but not with the conduct of oral proceedings, up to the time of the final decision on the opposition (see also D‑IV, 2). If need be, the same member may also be entrusted with the examination of the evidence adduced (see E‑IV, 1.3). This member will be referred to as the primary examiner.[Art. 19(2); Rule 119(1); ]
